Project Overview

This project explored a recipe app designed to help foodies manage grocery shopping lists, discover new and saved recipes, and find meal inspiration through a lightweight, friendly experience.

Our Approach

Recipe apps are rarely missing features – they’re missing flow. The real problem is helping people answer three questions quickly:

What should I cook? What do I need? Can I actually make it tonight?

The goal was to reduce “scroll fatigue” and decision friction (paradox of choice), and turn inspiration into action with as few steps as possible.

Key goal

Elegant, Distinctive, Sparkling, Fine, Gourmet.

The aim of this project was to bring to life a recipe app, that can help foodie users dealing with grocery shopping list, new and known recipes, inspiration for any meal and other extra features.

The mood-board creates an immediate feeling of sophistication, distinction and authenticity. An app that has the courage and character to catch the attention of the talented and passionate home cooks from all over the world.

My Role

For this MVP, I crafted the UI-focused product design (layout, hierarchy, interaction patterns, and visual system) and user journey, shaping a cohesive app interface that supports fast browsing, confident selection, and quick list-building.

My Approach

I followed a practical UX process (inspired by Double Diamond):

  • Discover: idenitfying the core objectives (inspiration → decide → shop → cook) and common friction points (overwhelming choice, unclear ingredients, list friction).

  • Define: mapping the key journeys and information architecture so users always know where they are and what to do next.

  • Develop: iterating through wireframes → clickable prototypes → refined UI, focusing on speed-to-outcome and scan-ability.

  • Deliver: finalising a clean component set (cards, chips, list items, navigation patterns) to keep the experience consistent and scalable.

User Stories

1. (Need)
As a first time user I need to create my profile and save my preferences so that I can use the app according to my needs, habits and taste.

2. (Need)
As a busy foodie that works everyday I want to find the right tool so that I can better plan my meals and grocery shopping.

3. (Need)
As a curious person always down to discover new things also in the kitchen I need the right source of inspiration so that I can always surprise my beloved ones with fresh new recipes that match my tastebuds preferences.

4. (Want)
As a healthy person I want to find an app that helps me steer my diet towards my goals so that I can boost my vitamins levels during winter, and make sure I stay young by eating the right amount of anti-oxidant food throughout the year.

5. (Need)
As a tech savvy I need a digital tool that allows me to save, import, and share my recipes so that I can have a digital cook book with all the recipes I discover all in one place. And by planning a specific recipes all the ingredients needed can be saved directly onto my grocery shopping list without having to double check and write them down manually.

Tone of voice

This is a bold brand, the app for people that know how to cook and what they like. Always open to experimentation, exotic flavours, and getting inspired. The language and tone of voice are on point, precise, fine, kind and elegant. But also straightforward and brief, while avoiding to sound pretentious.

Outcome & next steps

The result was a UI concept that connected inspiration → planning → shopping in one coherent flow, designed to scale with additional features over time (filters/preferences, dietary profiles, weekly planning, smarter recommendations, etc.)
